Acoustic helical dichroism in a one-dimensional lattice of chiral resonators

چکیده

Circular dichroism and helical are intriguing chiroptical phenomena with broad applications in optical sensing imaging. Here, we generalize one of the phenomena-helical dichroism-to acoustics. We show that a one-dimensional lattice chiral resonators loss can induce differential absorption sounds (i.e., acoustic vortices) carrying opposite orbital angular momentum (OAM). This strongly depends on rotation symmetry resonators. Breaking ${C}_{4}$ coupling between dipole modes leads to OAM band gaps non-Hermitian exceptional points near Brillouin-zone center boundaries, which together give rise significantly enhanced dichroism. The underlying physics be well captured by an effective Hamiltonian quantitatively reproduces complex structures. find important manipulations sound-matter interactions.

Circular dichroism nano-imaging of two-dimensional chiral metal nanostructures.

Here we report on a nanoscale circular dichroism (CD) imaging for a two-dimensional chiral pair of nanostructures to elucidate the relationship between nanoscale chirality and CD activity. The chiral pair exhibited local ellipticity as high as 42 degrees in the CD signal at the center, with signals of both handedness coexisting in one nanostructure.

One-dimensional phase transitions in a two-dimensional optical lattice

A phase transition for bosonic atoms in a two-dimensional anisotropic optical lattice is considered. If the tunnelling rates in two directions are different, the system can undergo a transition between a two-dimensional superfluid and a one-dimensional Mott insulating array of strongly coupled tubes. The connection to other lattice models is exploited in order to better understand the phase tra...

Dynamics of an Acoustic Polaron in One-Dimensional Electron-Lattice System

The dynamical behavior of an acoustic polaron in typical non-degenerate conjugated polymer, polydiacetylene, is numerically studied by using Su-Schrieffer-Heeger’s model for the one dimensional electron-lattice system. It is confirmed that the velocity of a polaron accelerated by a constant electric field shows a saturation to a velocity close to the sound velocity of the system, and that the w...

Generation of acoustic solitary waves in a lattice of Helmholtz resonators

This paper addresses the propagation of high amplitude acoustic pulses through a 1D lattice of Helmholtz resonators connected to a waveguide. Based on the model proposed by Sugimoto (J. Fluid. Mech., 244 (1992), 55-78), a new numerical method is developed to take into account both the nonlinear wave propagation and the different mechanisms of dissipation: the volume attenuation, the linear visc...
